Medical First Aid

OVERVIEW
To enable Seafarers to provide immediate first aid in the event of an accident or illness on board.
This course is a requirement for any Seafarer who is designated to provide medical care aboard ship.

• Casualty assessment
• Recognising and treating injuries
• Respiratory system
• Circulatory system
• Basic life support
• Burns, poisons
• Recognising and treating illnesses
• Fractures
• Effects of heat and cold
• Medical stores

REQUIREMENTS
Competence will be evaluated on continuous assessment and on completion of this course, learners will be issued with a certificate of competence. Learners are requested to bring along their ID or Passport and a black pen on day one of the course.
