Elementary First Aid at Sea
This course is for anyone intending to go to sea so that they possess a basic knowledge of the immediate action to be taken upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency aboard ship.
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
• Demonstrate an understanding of the types of accidents or emergencies which may occur.
• State how they would go about raising the alarm.
• Identify the probable cause, nature and extent of injuries or a casualty.
• Demonstrate the correct priority and sequence of actions to preserve the life of a casualty
and of the first aider.
Competence will be evaluated on continuous assessment and on completion of this course, learners will be issued with a certificate of competence. Learners are requested to bring along their ID or Passport and a black pen on day one of the course.
